For this project, we were commissioned to design packaging for a completely new product that was still in development.
We needed to design the full packing system, from the retail box through to the internal foam, the mailing carton and the carry case: Everything the customer would receive on purchasing the product.
It was a high-end product with a premium price point, so all the parts needed to be very eye-catching with a premium finish.
Because it was such a premium product, we wanted to make a big impression when the customer unboxed it. It was important that the customer’s positive experience with the device started from the moment it arrived with them.
Before even putting pen to paper, we did a lot of research into premium packaging for any kind of high end electronics and consumer goods.
We then went through a prototyping phase, creating lots of 3D card mockups to help the client visualise how it would look.
We talked to several different types of manufacturers and specialist packaging companies throughout the design process, ensuring that our designs were all fit for purpose and could be produced economically and on time.
All the work came together to produce a very high-end looking retail package, that was delivered both aesthetically and functionally.
